Flying West

Flying West, 48x72”, 2022, mixed media in stretched canvas.

Flying West is a matrix cockpit scene of a spaceship searching for heaven. Below the sunset in the cockpit window is a Morse code poem, written by Lundberg,

“I’m out here looking for heavens gates. I’m not lost, just very unfamiliar. I think I’m two orbits from hell and seven orbits from my regrets. I’m looking for you, I think you’re just off to the West. I should be there soon, come meet me at the veil. Just give me five minutes with you and bring grandpa, too”

Below the Morse code are the neon cockpit controls that begin to morph into a matrix train station towards the bottom of the piece. The matrix train station gives this painting a multidimensional feel adding to the explorative narrative.
